2017 Region I Presidents Cup Kicks Off in Barboursville, West Virginia
The US Youth Soccer‘s 2017 US Youth Soccer Region I Presidents Cup kicked off in Barboursville, West Virginia and the three-day youth soccer tournament provides high level competition for 12U through 17/18U Boys and Girls age groups.
This year’s US Youth Soccer Region I Presidents Cup takes place June 17-19.
The tournament features over 100 US Youth Soccer teams from US Youth Soccer Region I competing for a regional title with the 13U-17/18U teams vying for a berth to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup, July 12-16 in Auburndale, Fla.
Preliminary games will finish Sunday, June 18 and Semifinal matches take place June 18 for all age groups. Regional champions will be crowned following final matches on Monday, June 19. Games will all take place at Barboursville Soccer Complex.
As West Virginia Soccer Association is hosting the event, the other 14 State Associations represented include Connecticut, Delaware, Eastern New York, New York West, Eastern Pennsylvania, PA West, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia.
The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for teams seeking additional challenges to play for a national title against teams of similar abilities. The cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.
US Youth Soccer Region I Presidents Cup Match Highlights:
After the first two games of play, two teams remain undefeated atop their respective 12UB groups – North Union Adrenaline 05 (PA-E) and HFC Rangers 05 (PA-E), both representing Eastern Pennsylvania. North Union defeated both ASA Predators 05 (MD) and PWSI Courage 05 Red (VA) in its first two games, putting it three points ahead in Group A. In Group B, HFC Rangers earned a 3-1 victory over Beadling Premier (PA-W) and a 2-1 win over Washington United 05 (NJ) to claim its six points.
Continental FC Barca (PA-E) secured nine goals while holding a clean sheet in its first two preliminary games to finish atop Group B. Herndon Curve Black (VA) and Arsenal Gold (PA-W) sit just behind the Connecticut side with three points each. Continental will face Arsenal in their final preliminary game while Herndon matches up against Legacy FC 05 White (WV). In Group A, CASA Arsenal (PA-E) has earned its place atop the standings with six points. WFCV Black (WV) is just two points back and will seal a spot in the semifinals with a tie or win against CASA Arsenal. Howell United Fire (NJ) still has a chance to advance but will need a big win against SAC Premier Blue (MD) and some help in the other game.
Farmington Indians (CT) earned six points in emphatic fashion, scoring 16 goals while allowing just one. The Connecticut side will advance to the semifinals along with WVFC 2004 Boys (WV) who also finished their two first games with six points. The two sides will play tomorrow for the top spot in Group A heading into the semifinals. Group B is up for grabs on the final day of play. TSC River Plate (MD) and FC Bucks North United (PA-E) each have four points with Delaware Rush 04 (DE) and Beach FC 04 Black (VA) trailing with one point each.
VAR 2004 Rush (VA) scored six goals while only allowing one in its perfect 2-0 start in preliminary play. Rush has already qualified for tomorrow’s semifinals as the top seed from Group A. Celtic North Pride 2004 (MD) sits in second with two points, while Weston (CT) and Manalapan Sting (NJ) trail just behind with one point each. ALSC 2004 Grey Premier (MD) earned six crucial points in Group B sealing its spot in the semifinals after just two games. North Union United 04 Strikers (PA-E) will need at least a tie tomorrow against the group leading team in order to guarantee its spot in the semifinals. Beadling Premier (PA-W) will need to defeat WVFC 04 (WV) and hope for a helpful result in the other game in order to advance.
Group A is a toss-up between three teams heading into tomorrow’s final preliminary game. Lighthouse Rangers (PA-E) and Century V Red (PA-W) lead with four points each with Den of Lions Gunners (NJ) nipping at their heels with three points. In Group B, Arlington White (VA) and Eagle FC Ajax (PA-E) have sealed their places in the semifinals while earning six points each. Eagle FC Ajax will put their clean sheet on the line as they face Arlington in the final preliminary game to decide who will claim the top spot in Group B.
With the 14U age group having five team groups, every point is crucial as each team battles for a spot in Monday’s final. In Group B, HFC Ready 03 (PA-E) climbed to the top of the group by earning six points with victories over both Beach FC Black (VA) and Beadling Premier (PA-W). A tie or win in tomorrow’s match against SAC 2003 United Blue (MD) will guarantee the Eastern Pennsylvania side a spot in Monday’s final. Beach FC and OSS Cuthill/Carter (RI) both have three points and will be vying for positive results in order to have a chance to advance. Montgomery Fury (PA-E) leads Group A with six points but with Charleston Clash (WV) and Rancoacas Valley United Premier (NJ) right behind with three points each, who advances to the final will depend on the results from the final preliminary game.
In Group A, VE Gunners 1 (PA-E) and Pittsburgh Football Club – Piranhas (PA-W) both claimed two dominant victories over their opponents to seal their spots in the semifinals after the first two games. Both teams will face off tomorrow in order to decide who will advance to the semifinals as the group winner. In the other group, Monroe FC 02 (NJ) claimed two close victories to gain the six points it needed to seal an early spot in tomorrow’s semifinals. VISTA Barrio Boys Elite (VA) sits with three points and will need at least a tie against NUU 02 Cannons (PA-E) in order to advance to the semifinals. SAC United 2002 Premier Blue (MD) also has a chance to advance if they can earn a win and get some help in the other match tomorrow.
Victory Express (PA-W) sits on top of Group A after defeating Beach FC 02 (VA), 2-1, and World Cup SC of Greater Nashua 2002 Elite (NH), 3-2, in two close matchups. Beach and World Cup SC will face off in tomorrow’s last preliminary game vying to earn a spot in the semifinals. In Group B, FC York 02 Elite (PA-E) scored nine goals while allowing just one en route to a 2-0 record and six points. Mount Laurel United Pride (NJ) and Arlington Soccer Association 02 (VA) sit just three points behind and will look to earn crucial points in the third game in order to advance to the semifinals.
Mainland United Upper Townships Futbol Club (NJ) sits in first place in Group A with six points trailed closely behind by Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals 01 Black Elite (PA-E) and Bethesda SC Green (MD) with three points each. PWSI 01 Red (VA) will have nothing to lose tomorrow as they look to cause some tiebreaker drama as they face off against Ukrainian Nationals. In Group B, it is any teams’ chance at a spot in the semifinals with both CYA 01 Gold (VA) and ASA DMV FEVISA 01 (MD) earning four points each. Pittsburgh Football Club – United 01 (PA-W) sits close behind with three points. Each game will be crucial in Group B’s final preliminary matches tomorrow.
BAC Blitz (VA) is leading Group B with two victories in two games, with PSC Coppa Blue Storm (PA-E) and WV Select (WV) behind with three points each. Delaware Union 01 Navy (DE) will try to put a blemish on Blitz’s undefeated record in the final preliminary round game. Rage United Comets (PA-E) is headed to the semifinals after two first day victories. North United 01 Fury (PA-W) has four points but will have to earn at least one point against Rage United in order to guarantee a spot in the semifinals. East Coast Premier Soccer Academy (NJ) faces FC Frederick 01 Royal (MD) and can put the pressure on North United with a big win in tomorrow’s final preliminary game.
Ocean Township United S.A. Spartans (NJ) and SCCSA Dragons 00 (PA-E) both earned spots in tomorrow’s semifinal after going 2-0 against Pipeline Gold (MD) and EPIC Warriors (WV). Both teams will face off in the final preliminary game for rights to the top spot in Group A heading into the semifinals. In Group B, VAR Rush VSL (VA) currently sits on top of the group with six points. The Virginia side is trailed by Kearny Red (NJ) and Locomotive FC 1999 (MD) who are tied in the standings with three points apiece. Kearny and Locomotive face off in the final preliminary game tomorrow which will decide who advances to the semifinals along with VAR Rush.
FC Copa Academy 00 Red (NJ) made the most of its first two games, earning two victories while keeping a clean sheet through both. The win puts the New Jersey side atop the table followed closely behind by EPIC Freedom Patriots (WV) and SAC Premier Blue 2000 (MD), with three points each. Vorskla Black (PA-E) and FC Copa Academy White (NJ) both advance to the semifinals with two wins each. The teams will play for the right to advance as the Group B winner in tomorrow’s final preliminary game.

2017 US Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup is a massive undertaking and is a progressive, competitive experience for US Youth Soccer teams. Youth soccer teams compete first on a state level and then progress to regional to then the national level.
With 3,055,148 registered youth soccer players in 2014, and more today, US Youth Soccer is the largest youth sports organization in the country and largest member of the United States Soccer Federation.
And, just to end any confusion, the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is a separate series of events from the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series.
